Have you been feeling like you’re out of step with the underground art scene? How about experimental fashion publications from all around the world? Read many of those lately? And what about that new Hedi Slimane book on something or other that the fashion world is about to wet their collective pants over because Monsieur Slimane has just pronounced whatever the contents are as the new last word on what is the coolest thing on the globe (at least for the next five minutes)? Or perhaps you are simply on a quest to understand contemporary art?

Well, get thee to Ofr bookstore and gallery space. Ignore the fact that the guy in glasses is ignoring you (considering the clout this place has, it’s probably his job description) and instead bury yourself in the endless supply of art, fashion and design magazines and books from around the world. Seriously, this is one of the best magazine collections that money could buy.

Bring yourself up to speed with what is happening in Tokyo street art, which oddball piece of jetsam Damien Hirst has recently covered in diamonds and is currently making a killing on, or the philosophy of the house of Lanvin’s bespectacled and endearing front man Alber Elbaz. Hell, you might even find a book that explains the installation art piece hidden in the back room… though don’t bank on it: contemporary art is as fickle as Parisian weather, and that’s just the point.

Ofr bookstore and gallery space. Lots of attitude, but just like a great pair of new Louboutin’s, it’s worth the torment.

    Ok, that was way cool.

I apologize if I am the umpteenth person to pick your brain on a Paris trip.
At some point, in the next few years, I want to take my wife to Paris. She deserves it.

What should I be looking for in places to stay that are not “touristy”.
Any other helpful insights would be appreciated. Not looking to shop, just eat, drink and see Paris.
    Thank you for your time.
